toxnot.com introduces its chemicals management and hazard assessment platform at International Living Future Institute’s Living Product Expo

toxnot.com is excited to introduce its chemicals management and hazard assessment platform at the International Living Future Institute’s Living Product Expo.  toxnot allows brands, customers and suppliers to collaborate on chemicals transparency both through an open exchange of data and by crowdfunding new chemical hazard assessments.  toxnot also provides a robust commercial toolset that allows companies to apply chemicals hazard assessment in their products and chemical inventories as well as providing support for product reporting and compliance initiatives.  Pete Girard will be presenting at the Living Product Expo as an invited innovator in the ILFI’s “Breakthrough Innovations: Transform the Materials Universe” pitch competition on September 14 at 12:30pm.

As part of the tools provided within the platform, toxnot has implemented Clean Production Action’s GreenScreen List Translator™, which provides a “list of lists” approach to quickly identify chemicals of high concern.  It does this by scoring chemicals based on information from over 40 hazard lists developed by authoritative scientific bodies convened by international, national and state governmental agencies, intergovernmental agencies and NGOs. While the GreenScreen List Translator™ provides an effective way to screen out known hazardous chemicals, an assessment based on GreenScreen® for Safer Chemicals is more comprehensive and can be used to identify safer alternatives.

“We’re really excited to provide access to leading chemical hazard assessment methodologies GreenScreen represents” says toxnot Co-Founder Pete Girard.  “By combining trusted hazard assessment methods with tools for reviewing products and a crowdfunding platform for developing new data we hope to bring more scale to the great set of tools CPA has.”

"toxnot’s choice to adopt GreenScreen® for Safer Chemicals methodologies confirms our leading position in supporting safer chemistry choices,” remarks Dr. Michelle Turner, GreenScreen® Program Manager.  The new toxnot platform includes a list of over 37,000 unique chemical substances as well as over 10,000 GreenScreen List Translator™ scores. The free platform provided by toxnot also includes visual comparison tools to support decision making, crowdfunding applications to fund new data development and a commercial toolset to support in depth product reporting.

The complete toolset is available at toxnot.com.
